STORAGE- THE FUTURE TREND

CLOUD STORAGE

Now a days with the increase amount of technology dependency we use several device i.e- Desktop, Laptop, Notebook, Tablet PC, PDA, Smart Phone etc. Data, Information , Music, Video, Movies and "you know what" all are around us and easily accessible. But with this enormous amount of material we are now facing another problem, where to store all this never ending data? So we need more and more virtual space. There are several options to increase memory of your device.
Floppy Disk

A. OPTICAL DRIVE

 1. Floppy Disk- Contains upto 150 MB. Obsolete almaost a decade ago.
2.  Compact Disk- Contains around 700 MB/ 80 mins audio. Almost obsolete now. Used only as music album releases.
3.  DVD - Memory 4-8 GB. Going to be obsolete in near future. Now used to launch movie mainly.
4. Blue Ray Disk - It is the 3rd generation optical disk after CD & DVD. Memory 25-50 GB. First launched in 2006. It is now replacing DVD. Though it is mostly used to launch movies rather than storing data.

Memory Card
Pen drive
The main problem with these Optical Drive (CD, DVD, Blueray) is once you used the space its gone. To solve the problem then came the flash drive via USB port and card slot. These are-

B. FLASH DRIVE

1. Memory Card- Memory variable (1-64 GB) Transfer speed also variable according to class.
2. Pen Drive- Memory variable (2-128 GB usually), Transfer speed variable. (average 5-15 Mbps)
But still we needed more memory so Hard Disk came and took over.
3. External Hard Disk- Starts from as low as 8 GB and now 4 TB is also available in market recently. Here we can store anything we want. External removable HDDs typically connect via USB. Plug and play drive functionality offers system compatibility and features large storage options and portable design. External HDDs are available in 2.5" and 3.5" sizes, their capacities generally range from 160GB to 2TB. Common sizes are 160GB, 250GB, 320GB, 500GB, 640GB, 750GB, 1TB, 2TB, 3TB and 4TB.

 Several types of hard Disk

But Now the main problem is you have to carry these device with you and have to connect physically with your pc which may not be possible in all situation. (Ex.-you are in holiday suddenly your boss messaged you to show your recent presentation once more. It was on your PC and backed up in your hard disk but how in this earth you will get that immediately)
To cope up with these problem now the tech giant came up with a new solution CLOUD STORAGE.

C. CLOUD DRIVE

It means you are storing your file in a space provided by some 3rd party and can access it from anywhere, any place and any device. Though these were present since late 90 these became popular after 2010 and now the its the future trend.
